Bio
June Chuyun Hou is a painter and image maker based in Beijing and Chicago. Being born and raised in China and now living in the US, June dissects the Asian/Asian American woman’s situation through a uniquely Chinese and feminine filter. Weaving and threading between the Western and Eastern art-historical canons, June approaches feminist topics that evoke anger and aggression with sensitivity and femininity, tapping into underlying grievance, disappointment, and melancholy. June has shown work at the Zhou B Art Center in Chicago and the Chicago Center for Art and Technology. She is currently an undergraduate student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
